Riverside Heritage House Tour: Quackery and Cures in the Victorian Age
Registration: Heritage House Tour: Quackery and Cures in the Victorian Age - LibCal – Riverside Public Library (CA)
Owned by the Museum of Riverside, this elegant 1891 Victorian home imagines life in turn-of-the-20th-century Riverside. This exhibition explores a period that witnessed an explosion of scientific and industrial progress, which then led to an increase in population and perhaps not coincidentally, an increase in medical maladies. Amid all this change, the line between cures and quackery grew blurred. Following the tour, join us on the back lawn for “Spiders! A Special Museum of Riverside” program.
Parking: Free on-site parking is available in the lot behind the house. The driveway to the lot is located to the right (north) of the house. Street parking is available on Magnolia Avenue.
ADA Access: Limited accessible parking is available in the house parking lot. An on-site employee or volunteer will assist in using the wheelchair lift located on the side of the rear entrance to the house. Only the first floor can be accessed using the lift. The second floor isaccessible only via the staircase.
